About Sankalp Trust Foundation

Empowering Futures, Transforming Lives

In India, 3–4 children out of every 1000 live births are born deaf, and many more develop hearing loss due to neonatal infections. Deaf children in India are increasing every day, and only a small percentage manage to receive cochlear implant surgery on time. The primary challenge is the lack of awareness about the availability of hearing loss treatment, and the high cost — around INR 8 lakh for implant, surgery, and post-surgery habilitation — making it unaffordable for many families.

As a result, countless children are unable to undergo surgery, attend regular schools, or integrate into mainstream society. Witnessing the anguish and despair of these children and their families, Dr. Sumit Mrig was inspired to establish the Sankalp Trust Foundation (STF) in 2022. STF is a non-profit organisation dedicated to restoring the hearing and speech abilities of deaf children and supporting their broader needs. Our Trust conducts awareness camps and hearing screening tests like OAE to detect hearing loss at birth.
Under the able leadership of our trustees, we provide critical financial assistance to low-income families, enabling them to access life-changing cochlear implant surgeries and therapies.
